The Nursing Home Fire Safety Procedures Course will provide learners with the knowledge on the procedures to be followed in a Nursing Home in the event of an outbreak of fire, including the use of evacuation aids such as Ski Evacuation Sheets and Ski Pads The course also trains staff on the safe use of portable fire extinguishers. The training is delivered in line with the requirements of a Fire Safety Thematic Inspection process.
Evacuation training is conducted using our evacuation aids; this ensures your equipment is not damaged when staff are training on evacuation procedures. Rescue training dummies are used for the safety of staff and to encourage maximum participation in all drills.

We also offer Nursing Home Fire Safety Manager, as the Nursing Home Fire Safety Management, you will be a focal point for all fire safety matters within the Nursing Home.

All our tutors hold a minimum QQI Level 8 in their subject matter, a Train the Trainer QQI Level 6 or higher and are also Evacuation Aid Instructors. The tutor working with your staff is experienced in healthcare fire safety and will detail all the essential duties and roles of staff within a residential care setting.
The course assesses learners in the safe use of evacuation aids, the correct selection and use of fire extinguishers and the procedures taken in timed fire drills.
Since the amendments of 2003 to the Fire Services Act 1981, and the requirement of the Safety Health and Welfare At Work Act 2005 the Fire Service is no longer obliged to provide a “complete evacuation service” for premises placing the onus upon the person with responsibility for the management of fire safety within the organisation.
Everyone has to have the same right of evacuation in an emergency, and the responsibility to ensure this is in place falls upon the person having the responsibility for the management of fire safety within the organisation.
A Fire Safety Thematic Inspection is used when we want to examine the teaching of fire safety procedures or issues in a given environment.
Under Section 19 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, every employer shall identify hazards, assess risks and have a written risk assessment, including any unusual or other risks. A training programme must be delivered that as far as reasonably practicable the risks identified in a risk assessment are either eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level.
