Course Details
A one day course which is suitable for Pre-Schools and Crèches. This course will give child-minders and anyone working with children the confidence to administer basic first aid to infants and children up to 8 years of age. Participants will gain the knowledge and practical skills to make an assessment of an emergency, call for appropriate assistance and be able to administer basic first aid until the arrival of more qualified help.
Participants who have completed this course will have a good understanding of
- Assess the extent of injury
- Provide emergency first aid
- Deal with common injuries
- Identify and treat a child and infant victim of sudden cardiac arrest by providing CPR
- Treat a child and infant victim of choking to Irish Heart Foundation and American Heart Association guidelines

Who should attend?
People working in the childcare profession or anyone who require a basic understanding of first aid and what procedures to follow in emergency situations
Assessment / Certification
- Following an assessment by an examiner, participants will be awarded the Irish Heart Foundation AED Certificate Card
- Phoenix Safety Training Services Skills Certification
- Note: Participants must complete a 10 minute revalidation session every 3 months
Course Materials
All participants will receive American Heart Association Heartsaver Paediatric First Aid Manual with student CD and CPR Pocket Mask
