Course Details
This course equips Healthcare Providers with the skills necessary to respond to a victim of sudden cardiac arrest. This course is video based and recognised by the Irish Heart Foundation and the American Heart Association.
Participants who have completed this course will have a good understanding of
- Providing emergency first aid
- Identify and treat an adult, child and infant victim of sudden cardiac arrest by providing CPR
- Treat an adult, child and infant victim of choking to Irish Heart Foundation and American Heart Association guidelines

- CPR for Adults
- CPR for Children – 1 Years of Age to Puberty
- Adult and Child Bag-Mack Technique and Rescuer Breathing
- 2-Rescuer CPR for Adults and Children
- Automated External Defibrillator
- CPR for Infants
- Relief of Choking
- Special Considerations
- The chain of survival

Healthcare Professionals
Assessment / Certification
Following an assessment by an examiner, participants will be awarded the Irish Heart Foundation BLS Certificate Card
Course attendees must complete 10 minute revalidation session every 3 months
Course Materials
All participants will receive American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers manual with student CD and full CPR pocket mask
