BLS for Healthcare Providers

Course Details

This course equips Healthcare Providers with the skills necessary to respond to a victim of sudden cardiac arrest. This course is video based and recognised by the Irish Heart Foundation and the American Heart Association.

Participants who have completed this course will have a good understanding of

  • Providing emergency first aid
  • Identify and treat an adult, child and infant victim of sudden cardiac arrest by providing CPR
  • Treat an adult, child and infant victim of choking to Irish Heart Foundation and American Heart Association guidelines

  • CPR for Adults
  • CPR for Children – 1 Years of Age to Puberty
  • Adult and Child Bag-Mack Technique and Rescuer Breathing
  • 2-Rescuer CPR for Adults and Children
  • Automated External Defibrillator
  • CPR for Infants
  • Relief of Choking
  • Special Considerations
  • The chain of survival

Assessment / Certification

Following an assessment by an examiner, participants will be awarded the Irish Heart Foundation BLS Certificate Card

Course attendees must complete 10 minute revalidation session every 3 months

Course Materials

All participants will receive American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers manual with student CD and full CPR pocket mask
